Species text
DistributionTegenaria ramblae has been found in Britain on just one occasion (2008) when a single male was discovered at Southwark. In Europe, it is known only from Spain and Portugal (https://araneae.nmbe.ch/data/2448) with the first female described in 1978 (Barrientos 1978) and the first male in 1992 (Barrientos & Ribera 1992).
Habitat and ecology
The British specimen was found on a brownfield site, with flower rich herbaceous vegetation, sparsely vegetated ground and areas with debris and scrub. The spider was taken from an open rubbly area with Buddleia. A further search failed to find more specimens; the site is now built over (Peter Harvey, pers. comm.).
